What's the best laptop for a late teen who is in media?

Hi, I'm a late teen, and keen to buy a laptop, but I don't have too much money, and don't know a lot about laptops... I primarily want to edit videos that I record for projects, and burn copies of the edited film. I presume I will need a few firewire connections and a lot of disk space, but is there anything else I will need?

The graphics card should be a good one, but then I only have around 锟?00, so are my demands that realistic?

Internet is a must, and the ability to play some recent games would be a plus (as work can get very boring!).

Any help appreciated, and if there is a specific laptop that you know fulfills my needs, please write the name!!

i agree with the above answer. for video editing and playing games you need a minimum of 1GB of Ram and a dedicated graphics card (those laptops with integrated graphics accelerators will not do it), but with those specs the price will increase considerably.

the best offer with those specs i found is a Dell Inspiron 6400, but the price is around 锟?50 (change the graphics card to X1400 and the service to 1 year).

I don't use them personally but Macs are best for such things, maybe you could pick up a used one for that sort of money.

You're not going to get a video editting, hot games playing laptop for that sort of money anywhere. Used is your only option. Search on ebay for a laptop with at least 512mb memory, 80 gig hard disk, dvd writer and either an nVidia or ATI graphics card. That's the spec you'll need for the games. Even used machines are likely to be beyond your budget but it's worth a look.
.Macs are the best for movie editing. Get the MacBook- (don't get the black one...it costs more money because it's a different color)- .Macs also have a great program called GarageBand- You can record your music, or just create music on the computer...even if you don't play an instrument!- .Macs also have great photo storage software- trust me..go with a .Mac
